Tom Rogers is new CEO of TiVo

Mike Ramsay is stepping down as the CEO of the TiVo after co-founding it and managing it for the last seven years. Tom Rogers who would now be holding positions of president and CEO of TiVo would succeed him. Mike announced his decision to step down a couple of months ago though he would still be leading the company’s technology committee as well serve on the board of the company.

His successor Tom Rogers has served as the chairman and CEO of media conglomerate Primedia. His past credentials include serving as the president of NBC Cable and an executive vice president of NBC. He played an important role in the creation of CNBC and collaborating with software giant Microsoft to form MSNBC.

He also has served on the board of the TiVo at the position of Vice Chairman and managed to secure an important digital-video recorder distribution deal with cable provider Comcast earlier this year. Market analysts believe that this achievement made it clear that TiVo had found the person to take them to higher levels in the coming years.

TiVo is a consumer video component allowing users to capture television programming to internal hard drive storage. It works similarly to VCRs, but use non-removable hard-disk storage. They have a subscriber base of more than 3 million customers who pay them a monthly fee to take use of their services.
