Wal-Mart’s John Walton dies in an aircraft crash

John Walton died in an aircraft crash in Wyoming. He is the son of the founder of the Wal-Mart retail chain stores Sam Walton. He was alone on the plane when it crashed shortly after take-off from Jackson Hole. The 58-year-old billionaire who also happened to be one of the richest individual in the world was flying the plane himself.

Forbes Magazine estimates his net worth to be in excess of USD 18 billion and he was an active board member of the Wal-Mart Stores. Authorities have yet not clarified reasons behind the crash though reports claim that John was an experienced pilot and the weather at the time of accident was normal.

However, the plane he was flying was a homemade aircraft, with wings of heavy-duty fabric stretched over an aluminium frame. The aluminum-frame aircraft is said to have went down almost immediately after takeoff and in full view of passing motorists on an adjacent roadway. This was reported by Joan Anzelmo, a spokesperson for Grand Teton National Park.
