Sun Microsystems to acquire Seebeyond
Networking major Sun Microsystems continues their series of acquisitions with the latest deal including the acquisition of Seebeyond, a California-based software company, for USD 387m. As a part of this deal, Seebeyond stockholders will receive $4.25 a share in cash. This offer is around 30% more than the prices of the shares in the market on Monday.
The company has gone ballistic in the past couple of months with its spree of decisions. They just a couple of weeks back announced plans to acquire StorageTek, a maker of data storage equipment for a massive figure of USD 4.1 Billion. This latest acquisition Seebeyond specializes in software that helps company’s link computer systems.
Interestingly, the products of the Seebeyond are based on the Sun’s Java technology. The company also has side by side continued their efforts to lure the Open Source Community to work on their technologies. They have just announced plans to publish its Java Application Server on terms that allowed customers to use and alter the product free of charge, on condition that changes were shared with other users.
