Sun on Java for Ericsson 3G handsets
IT giant Sun microsystems and Swedish telecom suppliers Ericsson, together are to develop an integrated, multitasking Java technology based solution. The java technology implementation is based on Sun’s CLDC, that is Connected Limited Device Configuration Hot-spot implementation. The implementation is optimised and integrated with a full Java technology stackon platforms provided by Ericsson Mobiles.
The multi tasking java technology environment is foreseen by the companies as to expand the utility of the mobile handset and to create opportunities for operators, manufacturersand developers to create and implement new services.
Ericsson mobile’s platforms support Java APIs implemented to expose platform features through Java technology.Ericsson’s next-generation 3G mobile phone platforms with the multi tasking features of Java will soon be available Ericsson licensees at end of
2005.
