America Online offers Video Searching

While Google and Yahoo! are going full force to get users to test out their new video searching service, a new player has entered the market in the form of AOL. The company quietly launched their new video-on-demand search service on Thursday, which lets millions of Internet users to view music videos, news segments and other content from parent company Time Warner.

AOL has this major advantage over their competitors that they have got access to digital content from the various other branches of their business. They call this new service AOL Video and it provides free searching capabilities for more than 15,000 licensed and originally produced video assets from Time Warner.

Some of the channels accessible are television programs and music videos, movie trailers from Warner Bros. and news clips from CNN, MSNBC and others. They already had the Singingfish multimedia search engine on their website and this new service is going to compliment the search engine by adding more avenues for search.

The service is officially going online on this coming Tuesday but it is already accessible from the AOL’s beta website. The company has also announced plans to develop a video hub, which is a specialized page for watching the latest multimedia content. It is expected to be out later this summer.
