Wal-Mart reports growing sales figure
The world’s largest chain of retail stores Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has reported that their sales have grown by around 4.5% in the month of June. This is their best performance since the month of March as changing season brought in more customers. Wal-Mart, based in Bentonville, Arkansas updated their results through a recorded call.
The company reported that sales outpaced those of food for the fourth straight week after unseasonably cool weather in April and May. This led to fall in sales of fans, garden tools, shorts, and swimsuits. This rate of growth exceeded the average growth rate in the current year.
Wal-Mart will give its final June sales figure on Thursday, when most U.S. retailers release monthly sales data. If this figure is confirmed, it would mean that the company recorded its strongest same-store sales gain since May 2004, when it recorded a 5.9 percent jump. The Northeast was the strongest region for the company.
The news led to a minor improvement in the stocks of the company in the share market.
