Mobile Phones with iTunes Support from Motorola
It is being long since Apple announced their collaboration with Motorola to launch a range of mobile phones with support for the Apple’s digital music store iTunes. They were almost ready to launch it in the month of May but the companies involved backed out at the last moment. Rumors claimed that the third company in the collaboration and the network provider Cingular bailed out of the deal.
The latest reports in claims that the day might not be far off that the companies release this phone in the media. A market analyst has claimed that Cingular, a joint venture between telcos SBC and BellSouth would be announcing the phone within a month. It is also claimed that the phones should be available to the end user before the end of the year.
All the companies involved in the launching process, Apple, Motorola, and Cingular are going to benefit from this deal. Since the time, the announcement of an iTunes mobile phone was made; many other competitive companies have announced their own collaborations. Nokia has tied up with Microsoft; Erickson has tied up with Napster and many more. Apple would have to get out in the market sooner than the competition to get the early bird advantage.
They would however have the benefit of the popularity of the iPod and iTunes already. The company has captured a majority share in the digital music player market and sells more than a million songs per day through iTunes.
