Go files antitrust suit against Microsoft

Go, the founder of the pen computing has filed a new antitrust case against the software giant Microsoft. They claim that the company violated the antitrust laws by blocking the path of Go to enter the PC Operating System market. The financial details of the lawsuit are unspecified and it was filed by the founder S. Jerrold Kaplan on behalf of the company.

The complaint reportedly says: “Microsoft undertook to ‘kill’ Go by resorting to many of the same collusive and exclusionary tactics Microsoft used against Netscape, Sun, Novell…and others.” They also claim that the software company stole the technological concepts from Go and also threatened prospective investors in their company like the microprocessor giant Intel.

Other parties rumored to be threatened or benefited by Microsoft to demoralize the enthusiasm about Go were Compaq, Fujitsu, Toshiba and other computer makers. The aim was to stop them from investing and using the Go Technologies. Microsoft on their part have rebuked the claim and say that the matter relates to around 20 years back and has no relevance to today’s world.

Microsoft has been in the last couple of months settling their suits with companies like Sun Microsystems and IBM. Looks like more might follow if the courts take the side of the Go Corporation.
