T-Mobile might be on sale by Deutsche Telekom AG

Deutsche Telekom AG is reportedly considering selling off their US based wireless operator T-Mobile USA. The Germany based telecommunication company recently told investors it expects by December to have reached a decision regarding the telecom giant T-Mobile. The sale of this company is expected to generate figures in the region of USD 30 Billion.

One of the possible reasons behind this concept is to save costs for the parent company on the up gradation of the domestic network of T-Mobile in the United States. Their competitors in the US market are actively investing in future technologies and DT is finding it tough to keep up with the demands of the market through T-Mobile.

If they sell T-Mobile, they would probably be looking for some company locally in the European market to expand their reach there. They had purchased T-Mobile back in 2001 when it was known as Voicestream for a massive USD 47.2 Billion. One of the potential interested parties in T-Mobile is said to be UK based Vodafone, which has expressed views of owning a telecom company in the United States market.

They are also one of the potential customers considering both Vodafone and T-Mobile uses similar technologies to provide services to their customers. Vodafone currently hold a minor stake in the American telecom company Verizon Wireless but is expected to sell that share off to get full ownership over T-Mobile if the situation arises.
