China is the next big name in the Anti-Spam battle

World’s most populous nation and one of the potential biggest net markets in the world China has finally joined the war against Spam. The joining of China in the international accord has resulted in leading legislators hailing it to be a big achievement for the consortium. China is only second to United States in the amount of Spam mails contributed on the Internet.

The country was also considered as haven by the malicious spammers considering the government policies were not strict enough. In fact, sometime back China was the major destination for routing spam mails from other countries as well. The spammers based their servers in China and as a result, the laws of the American and European countries were more or less helpless.

The Chinese entered into this global alliance at a ceremony attended by British ambassador Christopher Hum and US federal trade commissioner Jon Leibowitz. Now, china would be stepping up their efforts against spam by adopting the London Action Plan on Spam Enforcement Collaboration. UK ecommerce minister Alun Michael congratulated the country on taking this decision and said: “We have long been keen to engage with China on the issue of spam, in particular because China is probably the second biggest source of spam in the world.”
