T-Mobile USA might not be for sale after all
Shareholders and the investors in the Deutsche Telekom have reportedly said that T-Mobile USA might not be put on for sale after all. Earlier this week, rumors in the media said that the parent company was considering selling off the US based mobile company. A reason being the American market is growing rapidly and huge investments were required to enhance the technology of the T-Mobile Service to compete with the rival companies.
One of the senior investors in Deutsche Telekom said in a statement that selling of T-Mobile USA would totally strip the company of its biggest growth engine. He added: “I don’t know where else they would invest.” Deutsche Telekom would have to get their shareholders to agree if they are to sell off T-Mobile USA.
Some of the senior executives at Deutsche Telekom want the deal to be complete to get resources to acquire a European based telecom firm to strengthen their position in the domestic and European market. The sale of T-Mobile USA could have gotten Deutsche Telekom as much as USD 30 Billion but to continue with them would require them to make heavy investment in the American market.
