Oracle to acquire ProfitLogic

It looks like the season of acquisitions is going one. The latest deal to make news is the newest purchase by the database giant Oracle which has decided to takeover ProfitLogic. The company develops retail-forecasting software and the financial details about this deal have not been disclosed by either company. Oracle is the second largest software company in this world and aims to consolidate the business software industry.

Oracle should be able to complete the transaction by the end of current month. ProfitLogic is a specialized company developing software, which enables the retailers, makes more accurate sales forecasts and pricing decisions by analyzing customer demand patterns. They clientele base include biggies like Bloomingdale’s and the Toys R Us retail chain.

This latest deal follows Oracle’s other acquisitions in the recent times like PeopleSoft, Retek and other two privately owned software developers. Market analysts call this latest deal a good decision, as it would help the company improve its position in the verticals market where they service specific branches of business like retails and finances.
