AMD Sempron to get cheaper next month
We just bought ourselves an AMD Sempron and love it considering it cost us just equivalent to an Intel Celeron and perform much better. Of course, it is one of the cheaper variant, which is not exactly the best in its class. However, fans of AMD have some good news coming next month as the company has informed motherboard makers that the unit price for their Sempron processors would be adjusted sometime in August.
The Sempron 2500+ is expected to get cheaper by USD 7 and a new dual-core Athlon 64 X2 processor is also expected to make its entry earlier next month. The best part of the news is that this dual core processor would cost around 33% cheaper than the current cheapest dual core processor from the company.
Intel is also expected to cut their prices of the Intel Celeron D 325 CPU and the gap between the two processors is expected to become wider in AMD’s favor. Intel is scheduled to bring a price cut in their Intel Celeron D processor range later this month by around 5.4-13.5%. With dual core processors getting cheaper, it is about time that the retail market brings more of these processors for the end user to buy them instead of expensive high-speed single core processors for their usage in corporate and home environment.
