Hewlett-Packard advances printing technology with HP Photosmart 8250
Computer hardware market is ever evolving. New technologies arrive on a daily basis and if you are stagnant, it would not take long before your identity in the market disappears. Hewlett-Packard knows this well and they have plans to keep dominating the printer market with new developments and technical advancements. The company just launched a series of new printers on Monday featuring latest developments from the HP’s think tank.
HP has launched their new printer HP Photosmart 8250, which uses the printing head, made using their new technology. The company claims that the new head would result in faster printing of photo quality printouts. The printer would cost around USD 199 in the retail market and it goes on sale later this month. Up next would be a heavy-duty printer using this advanced technology intended to supplant color laser printers for office use. HP would also be developing a multi utility device capable of sending fax and copying documents along with printing and scanning on this platform.
The company claims that the HP Photosmart 8250 is capable of printing a 4-by-6-inch photo in 14 seconds. However, these are at the moderate settings. At the best quality settings, the printing speed is much more moderate at 80 seconds. HP is betting on the fact that most users would not be looking for the highest quality mode for most of their printing needs.
Hewlett-Packard is basically struggling in the printer market in the United States with competition getting more aggressive than ever. In the first quarter of this year, the market share of the company dropped by almost 12% to reach 35%. These new initiatives from the company are aimed at reigniting the interest in their products in the market and hopefully in the end improving the position in the market by the end of the year.
