Toyota to build a new factory in India along with Daihatsu
Toyota already has a success story to its name in the Indian market with their massively popular Qualis utility vehicle. They followed it with the amazing Innova, which still has a long waiting list with dealers despite the launch now being many months old. The company is now planning to open a new plant in India to complement its already production plant. Toyota is planning to invest around Rs 387 crore in collaboration with its mini-vehicle making arm Daihatsu.
The aim is to develop a compact car for the Indian market, which is already crowded with models from Maruti, Hyundai and to some extent Tata Motors. Market sources say that the model would be based on the 1-litre-class car based on the Passo model that Toyota and Daihatsu co-developed. The company aims to produce around 100,000 small cars a year. The plans are yet not frozen and Toyota is still looking for possible locations for the plant.
Japan’s Nihon Keizai newspaper reported a couple of days back that the plan is setup the new plant next to their existing facility in Bangalore where the company produces Toyota Corolla along with Innova. When the plans are finalized, the event would mark the entry of a new auto brand in the Indian market in the form of Daihatsu, which is the second-largest mini vehicle maker after Suzuki in the Japanese market.
Daihatsu is expected to independently manage and operate the new plant though the local operations would be taken care in collaboration with the parent company Toyota. India is a huge market for such small cars with value for money being the top priority for a new buyer in the auto market.

It is my great pleasure to learn about Toyota is serious about setting up a new auto manufacturing plant for Diahatsu near its present facility making Toyota corolla in Bangalore. There can be no better choice to choose Bangalore as its another spot for Diahatsu, since it is so close to its Toyota and will make at ease to handle material and other supplies to the same area with simutaneously. Not just that, Bangalore is a hub of the industrial complex and geographicaly situated away from borders of China,Pakistan and other nations. This was one reason why Prime minister Nehru did set up all major defence industry in this part of the nation back then.Bangalore is the best and safest choice in India.
