iPod helps Apple record best ever quarter
The fears that Apple might be losing its edge with its iPod and iTunes range of products can be put aside for the time being. Reason being that the company has reported that they just had their best ever quarterly profits largely due to increased sales of their iPod music player. It was supported by the huge popularity of the Apple iTunes Digital Music Store. The company said that the sales and the profits have skyrocketed in the past quarter of the current year.
Steve Jobs was at the event and he was ecstatic about the performance of Apple Computers in the past couple of months. He said: “We are delighted to report Apple’s best quarter ever in both revenue and earningsâ€. In terms of figures, the profits for the company rose to $320 million, up from $61 million in the same quarter a year ago. In addition, sales surged 75% to $3.52 billion.
This was largely due to multiplied demand for their iPod music player compared to the demands of the previous quarter. The company has also reported increased sales of their primary offering in Macintosh range of computers. They shipped around 1.2 million Macintosh computers during the last quarter. This was apparently helped by their cheapest Macintosh computer offering ever in the form of Mac Mini.
In addition, the company also reported that Apple OS Tiger has been a huge success with people upgrading to it in large numbers.
