Reports say iTunes for Japan coming up
Avex Group Holdings Inc, a major record label in Japan has reportedly told some news sources that the entry of Apple Computers in the online music sales market in Japan is expected soon. It can happen as early as this coming August. Avex has said that they would be providing songs to the Japanese version of Apple iTunes. Many more local record companies are then expected to follow them into joining hands with Apple considering the success they have had in America and Europe.
This move to enter the Japan with their iTunes should prove to be a financially rewarding one considering Apple iPod is already a big hit in the region. The hard drive based version already outsells the competition though recent reports say that Sony now leads the flash memory based digital music players. Apple iTunes might reverse these trends in the favor of the Macintosh maker.
Apple has been reportedly trying to enter the Japanese market since quiet sometime now. However, the move was delayed due to complicated laws associated with copyrights on digital music. Looks like the problems are closed to being solved and the Apple fans can soon buy their favorite track to download on their iPods from the Apple’s iTunes digital music store.
The company has some competition waiting for them in the domestic market with players like Label Gate, Yahoo Japan, Oricon and the big software giant Microsoft already present here.

Apple iTunes seem to have the magical formula for maintaining such a hefty market share. The insiders say 80%–wow! that’s real awsome. Some how that translate into all the rivals battling in a 20 point percentage digital music hemisphere; something is not being reported. That’s a crowded loss leading marginal space; ain’t nobody strangulating? Napster and Real claims its all good; something is not
being reported? Emusic say they’re moving one million obscurities a
month. Hell, if I could get paid for one track on fifty services
at 65 cents, i’d borrow another two dollars from Tech Whack and purchase myself a nice big bag of potatoe chips. . .
