IBM announces two blogging applications
International Business Machines understands the growing popularity of blogging in corporate circles and has introduced two tools for the same. The Weblog Preview is currently available as a trial from IBM’s AlphaWorks developer site. It works in conjunction with the Workplace collaboration platform. The company in the coming days plans to integrate it into the platform as a core component.
In addition, IBM has also plans to release a Blog development component with Workplace Designer 2.5. The company believes that Blogs go a long way into enabling information sharing in an internal workspace. In fact, some corporates even believe that it is better than communicating by email, which restricts the information in closed inboxes.
Ed Brill, business unit executive for Lotus and Domino sales at IBM said in a statement: companies to promote information sharing. “In an enterprise, corporate knowledge is in employees’ heads most of the time. We are providing tools that help to capture that knowledge and share it through the organization.â€
The company has an internal policy on blogging for their employees. This has resulted in thousands of internal Blogs on their intranet. This is in addition to the already existing hundreds of external Blogs, which the company runs on their website for the outside world to check out for knowing the latest developments going inside the company.
