US Airways loses key executive to an Indian Airline Startup
Not everything is going right at the US Airways. The company is going under a process of recovering from bankruptcy and is going to merge with another airline company in the United States. The latest news is even worse; they are losing one of the main personalities behind their bankruptcy reorganization as the airline’s head of marketing. Bruce Ashby is leaving the company for an Indian startup Airline Company.
Ashby would be taking over as the chief executive of IndiGo Airlines, which would soon start its low budget segment airlines in India. The company confirmed the news in a statement issued to the media. US Airways spokesman David Castelveter spoke about Ashby’s departure: “It’s uncertain as to whether there will be more [resignations from senior executives] and over what period of time.â€
Bruce played an important role in the US Airways steering committee that helped orchestrate the merger agreement with America West Holdings Corporation. The merger is still on track and should be complete by October or November. The merged entity would still fly under the brand name of US Airways. His departure to IndiGO Airlines is not expected to cause much trouble at the US Airways as one market expert told a media group: “US Airways has plenty of capable people to step in. America West is doing most of the heavy lifting here.”
Interestingly, IndiGO Airlines as deeper connections to US Airways as one of the main investor in the airline company is Rakesh Gangwal, who resigned in late 2001 as chief executive of US Airways.

I am a employee of USAirways for 28 years and concerning your article on Mr. Bruce Ashby leaving to start up Indigo with Raskesh Gangwal I say " It's about damn time " Regardless of what the future holds for employee's at USAirways when we merge with American West the best thing is that we will finally get rid of the dead weight people that have been running this airline to the ground for years!
His decision to leave this country and go to India is the right choice because who would want an executive that has lied to himself and the employee's for years that if the employee's give back to the company we will take care of you!
