General Motors to target watchers of TiVO

World’s largest automaker General Motors has decided to take the unusual step of targeting the audience of the TiVO network. TiVO is a technology which enables the users to watch television programs as per their convenience and when they want. Users can record and store their favorite shows for future viewing and more importantly, it let them bypassing the advertisement, which clutter the broadcasting of all the shows on television!

GM would be one of the first advertisers to focus on TiVO customers by taking advantage of interactive technology from TiVo Inc. this allows the viewers to link from a traditional commercial to a longer-form ad with more information on the products and services. These advertisements are called telescoping ads and are supposedly attracting a lot many clients as well in the form of WB Television Network and others.

TiVO users would now get to see icons of these advertisers on their television screens, which they can click on, as per their convenience to see more details about the products being advertised. In fact, they can instantly provide feedback to the advertisers and maybe even purchase a product through the TiVO broadcasting technology as well in the near future. This interactive technology has interesting prospective and might lure more advertisers in the near future.

Betsy Lazar, GM’s general director of advertising and media operations said in a statement about their advertising campaign on TiVO: “This is a step forward in allowing consumers to shop and discover the GM portfolio of products in a revolutionary new way.”
