Cingular in good shape as it adds 1.1 million more customers

Cingular Wireless L.L.C. happens to be the largest provider of wireless services in the United States. The company just posted their second quarter’s results and has impressed the market with their performance. They posted a solid revenue figures and also reported to have gained a million more customers in the United States market. This is much more than what the market analysts expected from the company.

Stan Sigman, the carrier’s president and chief executive officer said in a statement: “Cingular continues to make good progress on a variety of fronts. We are pleased with our performance in margins, postpaid subscriber net additions, and revenue.” Cingular Wireless also highlighted the fact that most of the gained customers were post paid which means there is a greater possibility of them continuing with the service.

This now increases the number of subscribers in the US on Cingular Wireless services to around 51.6 million. Quite impressive figures compared to the next big competition in the form of Verizon who has 45.5 million customers to their name. However, Verizon is adding customers to their network at a faster pace and analysts believe that the numbers should cross Cingular Wireless quite soon.

The competition seems to be heating up in the American Mobile Service Provide market!
