Microsoft to continue its hiring spree

World’s largest software company Microsoft has increased the pace of new hiring in order to tap new talent in the ever-increasing competitive market as it look forward to gaining domination in the search engine market. It has recently employed a total of 4400 new hiring and it has confirmed that they would continue to keep the pace of new inductees.

However, the interesting bit about this news is that the company continues to hire more people outside the United States, which would probably disappoint the company’s followers in the domestic market. The company released these figures while announcing its results for the recently completed fiscal year. The news highlights the international nature of Microsoft’s operations.

The company did something similar in 2003 when they hired more people outside the states disappointing the local employees who would have preferred that the company concentrate on expanding its operations in USA. However, market analysts still believe that the company is rapidly growing in size in the domestic market as well so there are no reasons to worry.

Microsoft now has on its payroll more than 29,000 people in the Seattle region, which is close to half of its total worldwide employee, base that currently stands at around 61,500 people. Even company’s chairperson Bill Gates has confirmed that they would continue to keep the bulk of its research and development operations in Redmond even as it expands internationally.

The company is improving their employee base to keep the development steady on their upcoming products like next versions of the Office, Windows, the SQL Server database program, the Xbox video-game console and other products. Chris Liddell, the company’s recently hired chief financial officer said in a statement yesterday: “We are investing reasonably heavily in the R & D side and also the sales and marketing side in anticipation of those.”
