A new planet farther than Pluto discovered

Astronomers in United States have claimed that they have discovered a new planet, which is larger than Pluto in size and orbits the Sun like the other nine planets of the Solar System. Pluto currently continues to remain the last discovered planet is the farthest one in our Solar System. The discovery is expected to start yet another debate on what heavenly body to consider a planet.

This body now becomes the farthest-known object in the solar system and is around nine billion miles away from the sun. In relative terms, it is about three times Pluto’s current distance from the sun. Michael Brown, a planetary scientist at the California Institute of Technology said in a telephonic interview to the media: “This is the first object to be confirmed to be larger than Pluto in the outer solar system.”

The astronomers are still not confirmed about the actual size of this discovery. However, the brightness of the body is similar to Pluto’s and it is expected to be around 1.5 times bigger than Pluto. This research program is funded by the American Space Organization NASA and is expected to remain in news for the coming days of discussions and arguments.

Alan Stern of the Southwestern Research Institute said about this news: “Unless they’ve made a grave mistake, this is for real”. The possibilities seem to be good. We will have to wait for more news on this one to get serious about the changes it would mean to the world.
