E-Mail is no longer cool according to Teens
A survey done on the online teenagers of the United States says that E-Mail is no longer cool and they prefer instant messengers to stay in touch. The average Internet users from 12 to 17 years old says that E-Mail is best for staying in touch with parents and relatives but to have a discussion with each other, they rely on messengers. The Pew Internet and American Life Project undertook the research.
However, this does not mean that they do not use E-mail. Research said that around 90% of the teens actively use Email on the Internet in spite of having a greater affinity towards IM. Around three forth of the American teens use Messengers frequently compared to just 42% of the adult population. Some of the researched candidates even claimed that they spend more than 2 hours on IM clients.
Most of these teens have even used IM to send links, images, and even videos to each other instead of using Email to do that. Adults still prefer Mail services to send attachments to each other. The most astonishing statistic of the survey was that around 90% of the teens in the states use Internet actively. Those who were not online were most likely to be too poor to afford technology to access the internet.
