Ford B376 should arrive in India by October
Ford is due to launch a brand new vehicle in the Indian market this year. The model is expected to be positioned between the popular Ford Ikon (Josh Machine) and the fabulous Ford Mondeo. Ford has codenamed this very secretive product B376 and it is expected to arrive on road in India by this coming October. Looks like the company plans to tap in the diwali season when most Indian families prefer to make new purchases.
World’s second largest automaker wants to generate annual sales of 25,000-27,000 of this model in the domestic market. The model would be competing with massively successful models like Honda City and recently launched Chevrolet Optra and Hyundai Elantra to some extent. Honda is the most successful of the lot with sales of almost 3000 City units per month. In fact, they are losing sales to competition, as they cannot generate enough cars to meet the demand.
Ford might also consider export the model to similar nature markets like Indonesia and Brazil if the model proves successful in the Indian market. India would become the base for the manufacturing of this car worldwide. Ford’s production facility in Chennai can rollout 50,000 cars, which is actually half its built-up capacity. This would help the company, as they do not have to worry about failing to meet the market demand.
