Ford reports improved sales after discount program
General Motors is not the only one to have benefited from the discount programs. Ford itself has reported improvement in sales after they launched a discount program to counter the effects of a similar program launched by their competitor and world’s largest automaker General Motors. The company saw an incredible growth of 35.5 percent in July thanks to the program, which enabled the customers to pay the employee price.
General Motors have for the time being extended their promotion until September 6 while Chrysler has said that the scheme is on for an indefinite period for now. Ford has reported that Sales of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury trucks were up 38 percent over last July. The car market saw an improvement of 26.7 percent. This was a huge change for the company, which has seen a slump this year.
The company just saw a growth of little more than a percent in this entire year. Ford also said that the month was a record setter for their highest monthly sales of any vehicle since the 1920s for F-series trucks. They were up by around 58 percent in July to 126,905. They are also continuing with this program for another month until the September month.
The company’s share went up 3 cents to $10.88 reacting to this good report from the company.
