IBM buying DWL for an undisclosed sum

IBM (International Business Machines) has decided to acquire customer data integration software maker DWL for an undisclosed sum. The company would be gaining expertise in information management product line with this purchase. DWL is a privately held, venture capital-funded company that has been operating since last 10 years in the industry.

DWL has expertise in developing Java-based software that pulls together information from disparate systems, such as logistics and billing applications. This is to provide a unified customer record. The company mostly serves financial institutes and IBM would be expanding that circle of industry, which DWL would now be serving after the acquisition.

Some of the big clients of the company are well known names like Staples, MetLife, and SunTrust Banks. IBM would be following the same route to integrate DWL in their lineup as they did with their previous acquisition Trigo Technologies. The company rebranded Product Center application as WebSphere Product Center and added it to IBM’s middleware line as an independent module.

IBM also announced that they plan to retain most of the worker base DWL has in their lineup.
