Another first for Apple: Multi-Button Mouse
Apple is making history this year. They are already selling the highest number of MP3 players in the market. They are selling the highest number of digital music songs on the Internet. They have decided to leave IBM’s PowerPC for Intel Processors, which are no longer the favorites of the tech geeks. And the latest news in is even more interesting. Apple has showcased their first ever multi-button Mouse device!
They call it Mighty Mouse and it would be costing the Apple fans around USD 49. It comes with a 360-degree scroll wheel and can be programmed to recognize a click on either the left or right side. And if the users want it the old-fashioned way, they can of course use it as a single clicking device. The Operating System for Macintosh is capable of supporting multi-button pointing device since a long time, but this is the first device of such kind from the company.
David Moody, Apple’s vice president of Mac product marketing spoke to the media about their latest product, which is surely going to surprise the apple fans around the world: “There’s lots and lots of multibutton mice on the market but they come with some complexity. We just weren’t willing to compromise on design or ease of use.” The idea was to develop a product, which continues to remain as friendly as a single button mouse but also as a scrolling feature.

Apple said that to enjoy the capabilities of this mouse to its capacity, users should have the most recent version of their Operating System. However, it would function like a two button mice on older versions of Mac OS and other OSs like Windows and Linux. It comes with a USB port and immediately available from the retail market.
