Yahoo! to offer video feeds from CNN, ABC
Yahoo! has until now offered video searching for the videos available on the Internet. Now, it is going a step ahead with the news that it would be offering video feeds from popular news broadcasting channels like CNN and ABC. The company has signed on a deal with these two providers to expand the extent of content Yahoo! can offer to their customers on the web.
The appearance of the feeds on the Yahoo! website should begin by September this year. ABC News feeds will feature the day’s top news stories as well as entertainment and political commentary. CNN on the other hand would be providing domestic and global news amongst other new feeds. The company does not face any major challenge from any other entity right now expect for individual companies broadcasting their own feeds on their websites like CBS.
Yahoo broadband subscribers will be getting the feeds from these news groups through ongoing partnerships with SBC Communications, Rogers Cable, BT, and Verizon Communications. Scott Moore, vice president of content operations at Yahoo spoke about their new service: “Video content is becoming an increasingly important component of the online news experience for Yahoo News users, and these relationships are an important step in expanding the video content on our site.â€
It would be interesting to see what Google would have on offer for their users in the coming times to counter this attack from Yahoo!
