Honda recalling thousands of minivans
The ultra reliable and one of the largest automaker Honda is reportedly recalling around 85,154 of its best-selling Odyssey minivans in the United States. The recall is to fix a potential problem with their frontal air bag systems. The federal safety regulators reported the news on Wednesday. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration added that the problem affects vehicles from the 2005 model year.
The reason behind these issues is that the two external impact sensors might not have been sufficiently sealed during the manufacturing process. This can possibly result in a short circuit if water enters the sealed area. The problem can also lead to delay in the deployment of airbags resulting in injuries or potential death in the event of an accident.
The recall from the Honda Company is expected to begin at the end of the current month. The news came just days after the company announced their sales figure according to which the sale of Hondas in the US has risen by around 15%. Honda sold 143,217 Honda and Acura-brand vehicles last month, up from 129,872 autos in July 2004.
The company has also been reported the most reliable car in a survey done on vehicles sold in the European countries.
