Google introduces RSS feeds for Google News

This one is interesting. It seems that Google has finally succumbed to the pressure from the competition to start adopting the RSS feed standard for its services. The search engine giant has started with Google News and now users can subscribe to its various channels through RSS feeds. And of course, you can keep track of certain keywords of your choice being featured on Google News through customized RSS feeds as well.

Google is providing Atom and the popular RSS feed (RSS 2.0) option for its news channel services and they are easily accessible from the left side of the Google News pages. This is a new addition and perhaps after both its challengers Yahoo! and MSN started offering their own services through RSS feeds. It remains to be seen whether Google will go ahead with adopting the RSS feeds in other of their services especially its search engine results.

We would personally like to see Google enabling RSS feeds for its search results. MSN Search Engine already does that. However, the quality of MSN Search Engine results is not as refined as those of Google Search. Yahoo! enabled RSS feeds for its News sections quite sometime ago. We also assume that Google would be testing its newly launched RSS Syndication Advertisement module through this Google News RSS feed services.

There are some terms for using these feeds, as Google wants the users to make use of them for non-commercial purposes. They are also reserving the right to terminate any use of the feeds on the grounds of inappropriate usage as well. We hope to see competition respond to this step of Google with more impressive offerings in this field.
