Yahoo! says it is the biggest out there

Yahoo! may be the world’s most popular web portal out there. However, when it comes to search engine technology… Google is still regarded as the best search engine out there. The company is trying hard to get back at Google and in a latest statement pointed out that their index of search engine data is now the biggest out there. And it is bigger than Google’s index.

The search engine company says that its search engine indexes around 20 billion web documents and images, which is nearly the double of the official figures reported by Google. However, the crucial questions remain that whether the search results are as effective as given by Google. And most of the web users do not think so.

Yahoo’s official figure now stands at nearly 20.5 billion online “objects” consisting of 19 billion documents and 1.5 billion images. Google on the other hand tracks just about 11.3 billion objects. And that figure includes the material coming from its group discussions. Eckhart Walther, Yahoo’s vice-president of products said in a statement about this statement from the company: “This is a great reason for more people to check us out. We are more comprehensive than anyone else out there.”

Google has not officially responded to these claims from their prime competitor in the search engine market.
