Nokia says no deal with Apple on iTunes for N91 mobile phone
Finnish company and the world’s largest seller of mobile phones Nokia has clarified that they have no agreement signed on with Apple for their iTunes application for mobile phones. Apple has collaborated with Motorola and is on the way of launching mobile phones capable of offering the customers the ability to buy and download songs from Apple iTunes music store from their Motorola mobile phones.
Nokia is developing an exciting range of mobile phones called the N series. N91 phone for the time being has no plans to support the Apple iTunes music store unless something drastic happens and Apple collaborates with Nokia, which is a slim possibility with Motorola sure to disapprove of any such deal. Motorola are the world’ second largest mobile phone sellers and are working hard on catching up with Nokia.
However, Nokia has hinted that it might not be that complicated for the third party developers to enable support for these online music stores on N Series mobile phones. The company says that the design of their new phones is such that software developers could readily produce programs to allow downloading and sharing of files from such online services.
Kari Tuutti, spokesman for Nokia’s multimedia division officially said in a statement: “There is no commercial agreement between Nokia and Apple to integrate iTunes into the N-series devices. But since this is based on a computer platform, anybody — including Apple if they so wish — can very easily develop this kind of application and offer it to consumers, via the Internet for example.â€
Motorola and Apple are looking at a September date for launching their product in the retail market.
