ATI launches Radeon 9600 Pro

The company, which would be providing the hardware for some of the most powerful gaming consoles of our times, ATI has launched its latest range of graphic cards compatible for both PC and Macintosh platform. The latest product is Radeon 9600 Pro and it would be available for a suggestive price of USD 199 in the retail market soon. This is the first product from the company which works in both the Wintel and Macintosh based personal computers.

This enables the Apple computer owners to avoid limiting themselves to products developed for the Apple and get a product, which can power both their PCs and Macs. It supports both the G4 and G5 processor for the Apple Macintosh and comes with 256MB of VRAM. It also comes with two Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connectors for flat panel displays one of which is dual-link enabled.

As a result, the card could support an Apple 30-inch Cinema HD Display along with a smaller DVI-equipped display providing better flexibility. The company is targeting gamers and content creators both who are looking to increase the efficiency of their systems. The card comes with a graphics processor clocked at 400MHz capable of four pixel pipes and two vertex pipes, a 1.5 billion pixel per second fill rate, 200 million vertices per second geometry rate, and real-time anti-aliasing and texture filtering.
