Podcasts on Mobile Phones from Melodeo
Mobile software vendor Melodeo has announced plans to develop software applications for the mobile phones enabling them to search on the web for Podcasts and even download them for listening purposes on the mobile phone. The company says that their product Mobilcast software can be added to cell phones for this very purpose though they failed to provide the information on what sort of mobile phones would be able to use the software application.
Don Davidge, the company’s senior vice president of sales, said in a statement: “The mobile phone is the perfect tool for finding and listening to Podcasts.†The company has shown a demonstration on their website on how the technology works. It displays that the software loaded on the mobile phone would connect to a server and look for updated podcasts.
It would then display all the available Podcasts for download and the user can select the one he or she wants. The application is expected to be out in the retail market sometime next month. The company also plans to make available applications to help users find and download ringtones and wallpapers from the Internet.
The Seattle-based privately held company also said on Friday that its board of directors had appointed a new chief executive, Jim Billmaier, effective July 1. He was formerly the chief executive of the digital home entertainment company Digeo.
