Apple updates its product range for Indian Customer

Finally, Apple has updated its range of products for the Indian consumers. Apple is not very popular around here for two simple reasons. First is of course the high price of the hardware Apple supplies, the other is the lack of pirated applications from local stores. However, the best part about Apple is that they ship most of the required stuff in a complete package itself. OS X is of course one of the finest Operating System available around and all the Apple Macintosh also ship with Apple iLife with it.

If we consider these facts, Apple is not a bad deal after all. You get a complete system from the company itself. No requirement to download or install additional stuff to get the basic stuff working. Most web applications around are available for free to compensate for the paid for stuff. The latest news in from the company is that they have finally brought the latest hardware available in America to Indian market.

We at TechWhack were obviously waiting for the M96879971FE/B or the fully loaded Apple Mac Mini version with a SuperDrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW) and 512MB DDR333 SDRAM. Other than that, the latest versions of the iBook, iPod, and Mighty Mouse have also been launched. They have also merged the iPod range of music players as they have on the global level. Now, the new Mac Mini is available between Rs 25,600 and Rs 38,200.

The new updated series of Apple iPod are priced between Rs 20,700 and Rs 29,000. And the updated iBook is available for Rs 58,000.

Its about time Apples marketing in India stepped it up. I tried to buy a couple of Mac Mini’s for my Dad and none of the Apple resellers would give me the time of the day. Direct Mac sales via Non-resident Indians should be provided – so that I can buy in the US and it can be delivered in India (and installed for a fee).
Now it looks like I have to lug it from here – luckily the Mac Mini does not look like a traditional computer so maybe the customs guys wont be looking for a hand-out?
