Amazon collaborates with Shutterfly photo service

World’s leading online e-commerce portal has announced plans to collaborate with leading Internet photo service Shutterfly. The web-based service is planning to enter the growing market of online photo developing services and plans to provide these facilities on their webstore, which sells anything, and everything on the Internet.

The companies have not disclosed their collaboration details. However, Amazon have of course clarified that they would be offering services like development of photo cards, calendars, photo books and gifts such as mugs, T-shirts and other personalized products through their collaborative efforts.

Shutterfly is basically a privately held company and competes on the Internet with global giants like Eastman Kodak, Hewlett-Packard and many other retailers offering similar photo developing services on the Internet. The deal also highlights the efforts Amazon is making to expand their range of services. The company had started with book dealings on the net and is today the largest online retailers in the world.

They recently purchased the DVD-on-demand site CustomFlix and have also expressed that they are going to enter the music download business in the coming times. Amazon also recently announced a service called Shorts where they are selling online versions of short stories written by authors who would be working exclusively for them.
