FCC approves Motorola’s iTunes mobile phone

Apple and Motorola are a step closer to realizing their dream of launching their co-developed mobile phone capable of purchasing and downloading songs from the Apple’s iTunes digital music store. The companies have been working on this product since quite sometime and it has almost become a topic of argument between the two companies over the fact that whether the people should be given a display of the prototype or not.

However, the companies are much closer to the actual launch date of the product. Motorola has now received regulatory approval from Federal Communications Commission for launching a mobile phone that runs a mobile version of Apple Computer’s iTunes software. This gives the company an official permission to launch an e-enabled mobile phone to let consumers download songs from the Internet.

As per the reports available, Motorola E790 is one of the models, which is capable of running the cell phone version of iTunes and will contain stereo speakers, removable flash memory, and Bluetooth technology for short-range radio communications with other devices. A manual was posted on the website of FCC, which said: “iTunes is a software application you use to manage the music on your computer and transfer music to your phone. You can use iTunes to purchase and download music for your phone, listen to CDs and digital music, and create playlists of your favorite songs on your phone.”

The companies have not commented on this report though it has been confirmed that the product should be out in this year itself. September is expected to be the most probable launch date for this mobile phone from Motorola.
