Playboy Magazine going hi-tech with digital edition
Makers of the popular adult magazine Playboy Enterprises Inc. have revealed that they are going hi-tech with their magazine and would soon launch a digital edition of the magazine on the internet. The October issue of the popular magazine for men would be launched with its digital sibling for the online users. The company is developing this online edition in association with digital-publishing services provider Zinio Systems.
The digital version would be identical to the general edition. The company spoke in a press statement about this digital entity: “We see this is a natural extension of the Playboy brand.†Christie Hefner, chief executive of Playboy added that they are looking towards extending their user base and accessibility through this digital version of the playboy magazine. The worldwide audience would mean a better base for their advertisers.
The digital edition of the magazine is expected to make its debut on September 13 as it is the day when the October 2005 issue of the Playboy magazine would be launched. The company has been operating since almost 6 decades and have a large fan following. However, Internet has resulted in a big competition as access to adult content has become largely easier for the end user. Sex and Pornography remains the largest source of revenue on the Internet.
