Skoda planning three vehicles for India this year

Czech automaker and the subsidiary of the auto giant Volkswagen Skoda has announced plans to go offensive in the Indian market. The company is now planning to launch as many as three products in the current year itself. Skoda has gained immense reputation for high quality value for money products with their Octavia range of luxury automobiles.

Skoda is not only targeting to expand their product offerings but also invest in improving its research and development activities for global operations at the Indian facility. The aim is to further localize the development of its vehicles to cut costs which keeping the same quality levels to become more competitive in the domestic market.

The first of these three planned vehicles is confirmed to be the Skoda Combi expected to be launched in the market early September. The second model would be based on the highly awaited ‘D5 platform’ in October. At the end of the year, Skoda aims to launch Skoda Octavia on the bigger A5 platform. However, there is still no mention of the fabulous Skoda Fabia launch here in the Indian market.

Imran Hassen, managing director of SkodaAuto India said in a statement about the company’s plans in India: “All products will be offering technologies that are new to India in terms of engines, suspension, safety, and environmental standards. We will offer something new to Indian consumers every two months on an average, till the end of next year.”

This is certainly good news for the Indian customer.
