Ford releases photos of new 2007 Jaguar XK sports car
America’s second largest automaker after General Motors, Ford has released photos of the upcoming 2007 Jaguar XK sports car through their Jaguar division. The photos show a model of the car, which closely resembles the concept version, called the Advanced Lightweight Coupe, the company showcased a while ago. The company wants to showcase its new approach to designing the cars with this new series of automobiles.
As per company information, XK is a 2+2 sports car. This means that the back seats would be cramped and would be useful for carrying luggage or small kids. This new sports car would also be made of aluminum body like the company’s current XJ sedans. This would help jaguar offer better performance for the car, as they would gain an advantage with less weight. The new car promises a 10 percent improvement in power-to-weight ratio over the current Jaguar Xk.
The 2007 Jaguar XK sports car would feature a driver-shiftable six-speed automatic transmission and a 300-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 engine. It makes it a bit more performance oriented than the current sedans from the company. The company would continue to increase the aluminum content in their cars in the coming times to improve the performance of the cars.
The car will be available in dealerships in early 2006 and jaguar has still not hinted on its pricing in the end market.
