Battle between Microsoft and Google
Dr. Kai Fu-Lee was just one of the first instances, which showed how much Microsoft, and Google hates each other’s guts. The instances are increasing with the latest one claiming that Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer went to the extent of saying that they would kill Google. In other words, Microsoft is working harder than ever at beating Google at their own game… the only company in many many years to give a fight to Microsoft and in fact beating them at various fields.
The instance is referring to the incident when another of the top worker at Microsoft informed the company’s CEO that he was leaving Microsoft to join Google. Both the companies are already battling each other in courts regarding the reported snatching away of a Microsoft employee by Google. The instances of people leaving Microsoft for Google are getting just too frequent for Microsoft CEO’s pleasure.
There are more documents filed in the courts in the case regarding Dr. Kai Fu-Lee. The courts had barred Google from hiring Dr. Lee for at least a year after he left Microsoft considering both the companies are bitter competitors in the same field. Key Windows and .Net architect Mark Lucovsky, who left Microsoft for Google in November 2004, recounted this particular incident of Ballmer getting out of control.
Considering Microsoft is repeatedly failing to match the expectations of the consumers with their product launches, the anger would be magnified by now… Microsoft surely has some catching to do if we just take Google’s Search Engine capabilities into consideration.
