Spamhaus claims Yahoo! hosting phishing sites
Anti-spam group Spamhaus has claimed that Yahoo! is hosting thousands of websites on their services, which act as sources of Phishing on the internet leading to insecurity for the web users on the internet who fall in the trap of visiting these sites and getting infected. Most of these websites are domain names with words “bank”, “PayPalâ€, or “eBay” in them.
Hackers use these websites to lure users into visiting them and entering their personal information. This can result in damaging consequences for these vulnerable users. Richard Cox, CIO at Spamhaus said in a statement about their findings: “They are hosted on Yahoo! I just took three hot words, but there are dozens of others including misspellings. They are mostly phishing websites, which shows that the situation is out of control.”
The company already has on their records around 20 entries relating to Yahoo! on its block list SBL. They provide spam-blocking lists for 450 million mailboxes around the world to users who are tired of getting spam mails in their inboxes. The company also claims that they have intimated the search engine company many times but failed to get them do anything about it.
A Yahoo! spokesperson said that they were looking into the matter.
