Ford extends their employee rebate scheme

Taking a cue from the growing competition and falling sales, America’s second largest automaker and makers of popular vehicles like Focus and Mondeo, Ford has announced plans to continue with their employee pricing discounts through the end of this month. The scheme enables the prospective buyers of their automobiles to buy Ford cars at the same low price a Ford employee would pay.

The scheme was originally planned to end on September 6 and with this latest announcement would last for a couple of more weeks and end on September 30. However, the company has not clarified that whether this extended period of discount would include 2006 model-year vehicles.

The company until now offered discounts on 2005 model-year vehicles and some 2006 model-year pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, including the Super Duty pickup trucks, Expedition and Navigator SUVs. Whether the extended period includes the latter is not clear. Ford spokesperson Jim Cain just said this regarding their plan: “We will likely scale back the number of 2006 products”.

General Motors also have already extended their similar scheme until the end of the current month.
