Ford and Toyota recalling Trucks and SUVs

Ford Motor Company and Toyota both are recalling around 5 million pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. The calls are being made independently by the two automotive giants from USA and Japan and affect a lot of consumers looking at the sheer number of automobiles involved. The issues to be resolved in these recalls are being related to concerns of engine fires and problems with the power-steering system.

Ford happens to be the fifth largest automobile company in the world and they are individually recalling around 3.8 million pickups and SUVs from the 1994-2002 model years. These automobiles include the top-selling F-150 pickup trucks, which are very popular amongst the American consumer base of Ford. The problem involves the cruise control switch system in the cars and both Ford Motor and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are handling the matter.

Toyota on their part has a relatively smaller problem and they are recalling 978,000 sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks. The recall is related to problems over complaints that a rod linking the steering wheel and the wheels could fracture when the steering wheel is turned while the vehicle is stopped. The models being recalled are 1990-1995 4Runner SUV, 1989-1995 truck 4WD and 1993-1998 T-100 pickups.
