Vint Cerf goes to Google

Google is already making too much news in the media. They recently launched some software applications, which goes onto, show that they are really interested in taking on Microsoft in the IT industry with their software applications, which renders Microsoft’s own application powerless! Web users are already used to using Google Search Engine and Gmail web mail instead of MSN Search or Hotmail…

And both the companies are also involved in a legal hassle involving a Microsoft employee who was allegedly headhunted by Google to join their search engine department in China, one of the fastest growing internet markets in the world. However, the company has just managed to get one of the most innovative minds in the world to join them.

Vint Cerf is said to be one of the founding fathers of the Internet and he is now working for Google as per the latest reports in. The search engine giant announced today that they have hired Cerf as Chief Internet Evangelist. Cerf played an important role in development of the TCP/IP protocol that is the core underpinning of the Internet. Cerf started his work on the technology, which now has become the internet at the United States Department of Defense’s Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Their might be minor issues in the fact that Cerf is also currently the Chairman of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a role which is expected to continue while he is at Google. Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt said in a statement about this latest event: “Google has already made tremendous strides in making access to information on the Web a reality for users across the globe, but we’re still in the Internet’s early innings. This medium will enjoy wider-spread use than television, radio, or phones, and will ultimately expand beyond planet Earth.”
