Kuwait launches private airlines Jazeera Airways

Kuwait would soon see the launch of their first private airline company Jazeera Airways. It would a no-frill service airline and would start operations soon with flights to five Middle Eastern destinations. Jazeera Airways Chairman and CEO Marwan Boodai said in a statement: “We are proud to announce that the official launch of the airline will be in late October as scheduled and we are currently taking in bookings for flights on November 16 and beyond.”

He was addressing a press conference and claimed that the company would be initially providing 30 flights per week to Dubai, Damascus, Amman, Beirut and Bahrain. In later stages, they plan to increase these to 75 weekly flights with the addition of Egypt and India. The country already has an airline company in state operated Kuwait Airways and would be providing solid competition to the debt ridden airlines.

Marwan Boodai also claimed that their ticket prices would be on average be 50 percent less than on major carriers. The company is spending as much as $400 million to purchase up to eight Airbus aircraft and they are scheduled to get the delivery of its first Airbus A320 airliner around October 25. More would follow in the coming months.

They also have plans to be listed on the stock market sometime next year.
