Microsoft collaborates with Canon on Windows Vista Color Management System

World’s largest software company and the maker of the Windows Operating System Microsoft has collaborated with digital imaging giant Canon. The companies announced a strategic alliance on Tuesday and they would be co-developing the new color management system for the forthcoming Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.

This new Windows Color System would provide a better color predictability and fidelity throughout the operating system enabling publishers a better screen-to-print matching as well as better color appearance overall on a computer’s display. Macintosh Computers and Operating System have traditionally have this advantage over the Windows OS platform.

With the popularity of digital cameras and color printing, it has become very important for software to support the advanced color matching and printing features. And this alliance between these two companies is a result of that demand from the market. More and more users are using their machines to publish and print colored photos and images on their printers and it becomes important for them to match the printouts to what they see on the screen.

The two companies have also begun working on several technologies for digital photography, including native support for Canon RAW images.
