Google Blog Search Engine and its usability

Google recently launched its Blog Search Engine with much hype surrounding it. It is the first one of the three search engine giants (others being Yahoo! and MSN) to launch a special search engine for blogs. Anyone who has tested it would know that it is in a pretty disappointing stage at the moment. It ignores most of our own TechWhack blogs at the moment. And the ones it has indexed are too slowly updated.

The company has announced that they would soon allow bloggers to submit their RSS feeds for their blogs to be syndicated. This way the company is practically making it easier for content spammers to get their content into the Google Blog Search Engine. Google is already full of too many pointless blogs, which are full of spammed content. In fact, most of these blogs are running on the Google’s own free Blogger.com service, which is free, and quite Search Engine friendly.

In our tests, Technorati has been one of the best Blog search engine on the internet with others like Feedster coming close. We love the interface and services provided by Technorati and expect Google to improve on their own Blog search engine to match the services provided by these smaller startups. However, there is one little thought, which makes me afraid of this service. What if Google decides to move the blogs to this engine disassociating them from their main index…

Quite an improbable thing to do. Nevertheless, if it indeed happens, it is going to make a lot of bloggers unhappy.
