Flash Memory market gets hotter
The makers of Flash memory storage would love this news. The demand for flash memory is increasing as Digital music players, camcorders and other consumer electronics are becoming more and more dependent on them for their storage requirement. Even the latest Apple iPod nano comes loaded with 512meg/1gig flash memory storage for the songs. Apple is reportedly buying bulk of the flash memory production of the South Korean giant Samsung.
Not only Apple, more and more tech companies are moving to flash based storage moving from the hard drive based ones. The manufacturers are finding that everything they manage to produce is being grabbed by the hardware manufacturers around the world. Companies like Samsung are investing millions in increasing their manufacturing capacities as the demand is expected to grow even more in the coming years.
Flash memory although expensive (at the moment) than hard disk based storage medium, is getting popular considering there are no moving parts in such a disk which means less heat generation and longer life. Mobile phones have been using such storage disk since ages and now more and more devices are being developed with Flash storage media.
In fact, recent market reports suggested that newer generation flash cards would be big enough to replace hard drives in smaller notebooks in the months to come.
